PFGC aims “to promote civic beauty and roadside development; to advance the fine art of gardening, the study of horticulture, the artistic use of plant materials; to work in cooperation with other agencies in furtherance of all interests of horticulture and conservation.” We accomplish this through education of our members and the general public. The following activities reflect our dedication and commitment to our mission. This overview is, however, not all-inclusive as our member circles are always full of ideas of how to improve themselves and our community.
Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs members serve on the following Beautification, Improvement, and Civic Advisory Boards: Scenic Highways Preservation Committee, Keep Pensacola Beautiful, Perdido Pitcher Plant Prairie, Perdido Bay Community Association, and the St. Michael’s Cemetery Preservation Board. Members are involved in environmental preservation.
PFGC is active in assisting in landscaping Habitat for Humanity homes. Habitat committee members retrieve donated plants from members. Several circles have taken Habitat homes as their projects.
PFGC works jointly with Keep Pensacola Beautiful in numerous civic events.
Many circles work with the state wildflower chair to promote roadside beautification with the planting of wildflowers or jointly with Keep Pensacola Beautiful for plantings to beautify our airport runways and other public areas.
