Horticulture and Environmental Study Group

The Tri-County Horticulture and Environmental Studies Group is a program of the garden clubs of Northwest Florida (TCHESG)

Mission: To study and learn about the horticulture of our area by studying different groups of plants and visiting gardens to see examples of the horticulture, landscape design and other elements of interest

To visit and learn about environmental issues in Northwest Florida and visit sites of particular interest and environmental concern

To learn about the creatures and wildlife of the area and to learn to be “Florida Friendly” in our landscape and gardening practices

To share with our clubs and the public the things we learn in an effort to make our earth more environmentally sound for ourselves and future generations

Program: “Plastic and Microfibers in the Water”

The meeting is sponsored by Defuniak Springs Garden Club. The event will be held at Walton County Extension Office located at 732 N 9th Street, DeFuniak Springs. The program will be given by Dr. Laura Tiu, the Marine Science Extension Agent with the University of Florida Sea Grant.

Light refreshments will be provided by DeFuniak Springs Garden Club prior to the meeting. Afterward, attendees are invited to join the group for lunch at Bogey’s Restaurant, 660 Baldwin Avenue, DeFuniak Springs.
