Awards

The Power of Recognition

Celebrating achievements, inspiring growth, and fostering a vibrant garden community.

Awards at the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs (PFGC) serve to recognize outstanding achievements, highlight impactful projects, and bring awareness to the vital role of garden clubs in the community. They inspire members to pursue valuable initiatives, foster team spirit, encourage active involvement, and help attract new members to our vibrant, award-winning clubs.

Gardener of the Year

Honoring outstanding dedication, leadership, and service in our garden community.

The Gardener of the Year Award is an annual honor recognizing outstanding members for their exceptional dedication and service to their garden club and the Federation. Circle Presidents and Vice Presidents qualify, while current or former Federation Presidents and Vice Presidents do not. Each circle may nominate a member, who will be evaluated based on leadership, participation in Federation projects, service on governing boards, educational involvement, and support of NGC, Deep South, FFGC, and District objectives. Nominations are due by April 15, and a committee of three Former Presidents selects the recipient, who is honored at the Annual Meeting.

Book of Information (BOI) Awards

Celebrating excellence in gardening with a wide range of achievement and service awards at every level.

The Book of Information (BOI) Awards offer garden club members, circles, and clubs a broad array of achievement and service awards at the national, state, regional, district, and federation levels, with many awards providing monetary recognition. The PFGC also sponsors a $25 State Landscaping Award for exceptional planting on public property. Members can review their Circle Presidentsā€™ copy of the BOI to explore awards and goals for themselves or their circle. Categories include Community Impact (such as Arbor Day, Tree Planting, and Adopt a Park), Conservation (including Wildflowers and Birds), Education & Outreach (like Junior Gardeners and Library), Floral & Garden Design (Flower Show and Garden Therapy), Special Projects (Habitat for Humanity, Blue Star Marker Programs), and Publications (Yearbook, Newsletter, Website, Photography). To apply, members are encouraged to document their projects in a Book of Evidence (BOE) and submit it by December 1. Additional copies of the BOI can be obtained from Headquarters, providing all the resources needed to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our gardening community.
