Lazy Daisy

Established 1974
Club # 01-120-170

Founded in 1973 by two friends seeking a club that combined enjoyment and productivity, Lazy Daisy has flourished as a group united by a shared love of flowers, plants, and the desire to beautify our community. We meet on the 4th Friday of each month, September through May, at 10.00 a.m., at our member’s homes. Each meeting features engaging programs on topics such as gardening, flower arranging, hummingbirds, and other nature-related interests.

Our yearly highlights include a festive Christmas Coffee and an end-of-year celebration in May, where spouses are invited to join the fun. As a civic-minded group, we take pride in our community projects, like creating 54 beautiful bouquets for Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in 2007. Our scrapbooks, chronicling our activities, have received recognition at both local and state levels.

Magnolia

Established 1947
Club # 01-120-190

Magnolia Circle is known as the “No Guilt” club, where we encourage but don’t pressure members to participate. We offer a full year of engaging programs and field trips. Meetings are held on the 4th Saturday from 2-4 p.m., at the Garden Center Cafe. A members-only blog keeps us connected for updates, garden questions, photos, and birthday wishes, while email communication is essential for staying informed.

We support PFGC events such as the Secret Garden Tour, The Camellia newsletter, and the Pensacola Fair, where we enter horticulture displays, table designs, and a display garden. In October 2021, we won the Club Sweepstakes Award. Member interest drives our activities, and several members are active in PFGC leadership.

Past projects include planting caladiums for our award-winning “Evening in Paris” display garden and selling specialty bulbs like the Blushing Bride cultivar. We also enjoy unique programs like fabric hypertufa pot making and local garden visits. If you have a gardening bucket list, Magnolia Circle could be the perfect fit for you!

Oleander

Established 1949
Club # 01-120-230

Founded in 1949, Oleander Garden Club was established as a space for spouses of active duty, retired, or deceased military officers. We meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m., from August through May, at the Garden Center Café.

Our 20 members are actively involved in garden club activities, with many serving on local, district, state, and even Deep South and National Garden Club boards. Four members have held the position of President at the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs, and our own Cinny O’Donnell is a Past President of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs and currently serves on the Deep South Region board. Two members have also received the prestigious Gardener of the Year award.

In support of our military community, we decorate Christmas trees for the Naval Hospital and, in 1991, partnered with the “Adopt-a-Tree” program to establish and maintain the Desert Storm Memorial Garden at Naval Air Station, earning numerous national and state awards. Oleander Garden Club also sponsored and dedicated the Blue Star Marker on Highway 98. Our civic-minded members participate in a variety of community activities, including Red Cross volunteering, Symphony and Art Guild events, school and church functions, flower shows, and youth program

Pick ‘n’ Poke

Established 1970
Club # 01-120-240

Founded on April 2, 1970, Pick ‘n’ Poke Garden Club began with a passion for flower arranging, artistic design, gardening, and birding. Early projects included supporting the City Zoo, Ferry Pass Elementary, and arranging flowers for nursing homes and the USO. The club received a Civics Award for its work at the zoo in 1972.

Our most notable project was advocating for Scenic Highway’s designation as a Scenic Drive, which was officially recognized by the Florida State Legislature in 1973. This project earned several awards, including the Florida Environmental Improvement Plaque. Members have also won numerous awards in flower shows, with several serving as judges.

Although our activities have slowed over time, we still enjoy monthly meetings focused on topics like orchids, floral design, roses, and wildflowers. We meet on the fourth Thursday of each month, September through May, at 10 a.m., at the Garden center Auditorium, where we share a meal and good company.

Pineglades

Club # 01-120-250

Pineglades Garden Club was founded in 1959 by a group of young mothers and teachers from the Pineglades subdivision. From the very start, the club embraced Federation activities and has made significant contributions, including providing two Federation presidents, several board members, and two Gardeners of the Year. Over the years, Pineglades has earned recognition for its projects, including the State Wildflower Award and the Civic Sunshine Award.

Today, Pineglades is the largest club in the Federation with 39 members, including 8 life members. We gather on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden Center Cafe, where we enjoy engaging programs on plants, flower arranging, and garden design. While none of our current members live in the original Pineglades neighborhood, we are proud to carry on its name and legacy.

Sassafras

Established 1999
Club # 01-120- 295

Founded in 1998 by Lavona Boone, Sassafras was created as a club for working women and became part of PFGC in 1999. Named after the native Sassafras tree, the club’s name reflects the diversity of its members and their wide-ranging talents and projects.

Today, Sassafras includes both active professionals and retirees, staying true to its roots with lunch hour meetings. Our members, affectionately known as “Sassies,” are skilled gardeners and designers, with backgrounds ranging from Master Gardeners to award-winning floral designers. We are known for our creativity, strong friendships, and active involvement in Federation events.

Club activities are as varied as our members, including flower shows, table designs, and maintaining a Patriotic Garden. Many members serve on the Federation’s Governing Board and committees. We meet at the Garden Center Cafe on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m., where we enjoy lunch and an informative program.

Sweet Bay offers something for everyone, from design enthusiasts to passionate horticulturists. Our diverse educational programs reflect the wide interests of our members, who are always eager to share their gardening knowledge and skills.
We take pride in our community service projects, including the Children’s Garden at Perdido Key Kids Park, landscaping the Pensacola Lighthouse, and planting sea oats at Johnson Beach. We’ve also helped beautify the oldest children’s cemetery in Pensacola.

After meetings, many of us enjoy lunch together, making it a great time for socializing. We warmly welcome new members—come join us!
